Cognitive distortions are inaccurate or unhelpful thought patterns that can increase our misery, fuel our anxiety, and cause low self-esteem and depression. All humans are prone to them; they are a result of various factors such as past experiences, upbringing, and personality traits. Cognitive distortions are often automatic and subconscious. Becoming aware of these patterns allows us to replace these thoughts with more accurate and helpful ones. In this service, you will find out what the most common cognitive distortions are, and how to combat them.
